  Point of Care Resources NHS Education for Scotland Knowledge Network. Updated January 2016. Point of care can mean at a patient’s bedside, in his/her home or in a consulting room. Services include evidence summaries which provide access to summarised, validated clinical evidence and guidance to support clinical decisions at the point of care.

  Quality Improvement Hub At the heart of the NHSScotland Quality Improvement Hub is the Improvement Journey - Effective Practitioner signposts to the QI hub to support learners to you'll discover resources to help you along your QI learner journey.

  The Knowledge Network NHS Education for Scotland resource Provides up-to-date evidence, information, e-learning and community tools for health and social care staff in Scotland. Some features require an Athens password which you can request on the site. The Knowledge Network is an excellent way of keeping up to date

  The following are useful resources in relation to Evidence, Research and Development.

  BMJ Clinical Evidence BMJ Clinical review of evidence-based treatment of more than 260 conditions.

  Centre for Evidence Based Medicine aims to develop, teach and promote evidence-based healthcare.  The website provides workshops, resources and background information with research tools and educational material to download.

  Centre for Evidence-based Mental Health Promoting and supporting the teaching and practice of evidence-based mental healthcare from Oxford University.

  Clinical Quality Indicators (CQIs) These are evidence based indicators that support the measurement of the quality, safety and reliability of care.

  Health Improvement Scotland has a key responsibility to help NHSScotland and independent healthcare providers deliver high quality, evidence-based, safe, effective and person-centred care; and to scrutinise services to provide public assurance about the quality and safety of that care.

  JBI COnNECT A web-based system that integrates resources and tools in a clear and easy way to assist practitioners to make evidence-based, informed, clinical decisions. 
  The resource is made up of speciality 'nodes' for each area of health.

  NHS Elite (NHS E-learning IT Essentials) is an introductory IT skills qualification that aims to cover the key skills that an NHS member of staff will need to be able to use clinical and knowledge systems at work.

  NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement supports the NHS to transform healthcare for patients and the public by rapidly developing and spreading new ways of working, new technology and world-class leadership. The resource offers some very practical tools for supporting improvements including the productive series.

  NHS Scotland Managed Clinical Networks NHS Scotland support a wide range of managed clinical networks mainly focussed on a range of clinical issues/disorders. This resource provides a wide range of information on topics such a patient information, guidelines, protocols and audits.

  Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Research Unit is a multidisciplinary national research unit who work closely with NMAHP practitioners and are increasingly concerned with involving patients and carers as research partners.

  PIRAMHIDS NHS Quality Improvement Scotland has created this national multi-disciplinary database of positive and innovative practice in mental health.  PIRAMHIDS will allow you to share our practice or access the innovations of others in mental health care.

  Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) SIGN develops evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the NHS in Scotland.  The resource offers a wide range of evidence-based guidelines that can be used as a framework for your care.

  The Cochrane Collaboration An organisation dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare.  It produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and promotes the search for evidence. This is a useful resource for checking and ensuring that the healthcare you provide is evidence based.

  TRIP Database evidence-based medicine comparison site. Registered users (registration is free) benefit from extra features such as CPD, search history and collaborative tools.
