The purpose of this page is to support teams to use Effective Practitioner for work-based initiatives. These can be funded or non-funded projects.

How to progress an Effective Practitioner Project in your own area.
These resources can be used or adapted for any work-based project undertaken locally.
- Effective Practitioner in Practice Booklet takes you through the steps with examples from other areas
- See what others have done this might help you to build your ideas
- Plan your project this template will help cover all aspects of your project from the beginning
- Writing and using aims and Learning Outcomes if you need help with this is a good summary. Also see this excellent podcast explaining how to write good learning outcomes.
- Example Gannt Chart - adapt this chart to set timescales to suit your project
- Record of Learning Templates - a number of templates are availalbe for you to choose from
- Releasing Time to Learn This Interactive PDF helps if time is a big challenge

2016-17 Funding Projects
NHS Education for Scotland is supporting 21 funded projects to evidence theuse of Effective Practitioner to support NMC revalidation and HCPC CPD. All these projects submitted their follow-up reports in June 2017.
2015-16 Funding Projects
NHS Education for Scotland is supporting 18 funded projects to further evidence impact of Effective Practitioner of impact. These projects reported in May 2016 and project leads were invited to present their work at the national event held in June 2016.
2014-15 Funding Projects
NHS Education for Scotland is supporting 20 funded projects to further evidence impact of Effective Practitioner of impact. Many of these projects were presented at a National Event in June 2015.

2013-14 Funded Projects
In 2013-2014 the focus was to support local projects to embed Effective Practitioner across Scotland, specifically through using the new learning activities across the four pillars of Clinical Practice; Facilitation of Learning; Evidence, Research and Development; and Leadership.

2014 Evaluation of Effective Practitioner
An evaluation of the use and impact of Effective Practitioner projects which were funded in 2013/2014 was undertaken after completion.

2012-13 Funded Projects
In 2012-2013, five Health Boards acted as test sites for Effective Practitioner project funding. These projects demonstrated an explicit link to NHSScotland Quality Ambitions (NHSScotland Quality Strategy 2011). These projects were shared at the national event for Effective Practitioner held on April 30th 2013.
