The effective practitioner is constantly considering and reflecting on their skills and development needs. A good place to start this process is with the Career Development Framework (CDF). This web-based resource aims to help nurses, midwives and allied health professionals assess their learning needs and plan for your continuing professional development. The CDF has recently been refreshed incorporating practitioner feedback, is built on the four pillars of practice and is fully adaptable to you own speciality.
An alternate way to reflect on your strengths and learning needs is to use the Effective Practitioner self-assessment tool. This provides a structured way organise your reflections. This information may help inform you to develop an action or development journey plan. To assist you in structuring and recording this information you could explore the links to TURAS portfolio or the included planning templates.
