Practitioners often contact the Effective Practitioner Team to enquire about sources of funding. To help you, this page provides examples of funding that you may be eligible to apply for and may be of reevance to your Continuing Professional Development. However, we encourage you to look out for other sources too.

General Nursing Council Fund

The GNC for Scotland Fund 1983 and Margaret Callum Rodger Midwifery Award provides is funding opportunities for registered nurses and midwives resident and practising in Scotland.  Funding is available to support the following activities: Educational Development Activity, Small Scale Project (Research / Non-Research), Study Tour.

AHP Career Fellowship Scheme

The AHP Career Fellowship Scheme exists to support learning and development opportunities for the benefit of the AHP workforce across NHSScotland.

Health Board or local area bursaries.

There may be specific funding in the area where you live or work that you can apply for to help support your learning. You will find information on your Health Board website or intranet, local council website, education providers or from relevant organisations.

The Florence Nightingale Foundation awards Scholarships to advance the study of nursing and to promote excellence in practice.
